"Shock-Resistant Tool" for High-Speed Rail Cables Put into Use! Glass Fiber Tapes See Shock Resistance Rating Raised to 15G

With the speed increase of Fuxing EMUs, the upgrading of cable fixing auxiliary materials has been accelerated. Recently, the high-modulus glass fiber tape developed by Jiangsu Changhai Co., Ltd. has passed the testing of China Railway Science & Industry Group, with its shock resistance rating increased from 10G (of traditional materials) to 15G, enabling it to withstand continuous vibration at a speed of 350 km/h.

Made of alkali-free glass fiber through weaving and combined with a special resin coating, this material has a tensile strength of 800MPa and also features flame retardancy and aging resistance. Currently, it has been applied in the Beijing-Xiongan High-Speed Railway and Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway, extending the cable maintenance cycle from 2 years to 5 years.
