Waste Cables Turned into "Treasures"! Shandong Enterprise Develops Recycled Insulating Auxiliary Materials with 92% Recycling Rate
At the Dezhou Circular Economy Industrial Park in Shandong Province, Shandong Huaneng Wire & Cable has transformed waste cable sheaths into high-performance insulating filler particles through the "low-temperature cracking + molecular reconstruction" technology. Recently, this recycled auxiliary material has passed national testing, with an insulation resistance value of 1.8×10¹⁴Ω·cm, which is equivalent to that of original materials, and the recycling rate has exceeded 92%.
"Traditionally, landfilling 1 ton of waste cables requires 3 square meters of land, but now 1 ton of waste can produce 0.8 tons of insulating particles," said Li Juan, the project leader. The product has been applied in rural power grid transformation projects, reducing the cost per ton of materials by 40% and cutting down solid waste landfilling by over 2,000 tons annually.
